Hosta Leaves
In this era of conflict and hatreds, the birds and creatures in my small immediate world give me a sense of peace and normality. Every year the Hostas come up and bravely hold their own throughout the summer as the local deer munch their way ever closer to my deck. We have a kind of unspoken agreement that they can eat the outlying plants first and leave me the closer ones until they are needed in the fall.
