Illinois County Fair, 1967
The County Fair had everything the big State Fair had, except for size. There were midway rides, a horse show, a greased pig race, prize cabbages and cows, contests of strength and intelligence, and food, food, food. The smaller carnival companies rode the circuit from county to county throughout the summer, setting up rides and booths and grandstands. Children saved their allowances for their favorite games; cooks brought cakes and canned peaches. Local businesses advertised and handed out souvenirs.
